Add Giphy to Your Web App
There’s a nice Bubble plugin that allows users to show giphy.com gifs in their Bubble app. For more details on how to add the ability to search and show gif’s in your Bubble app, check out this video.
Before you begin, you’ll first need a giphy.com account (free) then go to there Developer’s page to get an API key (developer). This API key will be needed in Bubble for the plugin to work. You’ll need to scroll down the page to the “Get an API key” where you’ll need to click “creating an app” (you’ll need an account). Fill in “Your App Name” and “App Description“, then click “Create New App“. You’ll see a page with your API key.

After you’ve installed the Giphy plugin, you’ll see a place to add the API key (“API key – dev.“). Copy the API key from Giphy and paste it here.

In the video, you’ll see how to setup the plugin. You’ll also learn how to add search capabilities so your users can enter terms to search gifs. Additionally, you’ll learn how to show many thumbnails of gifs and incorporate a popup to make the thumbnails bigger and easier to see.
Using giphy is an easy way to add a little fun to your app. In less than 30 minutes you can create a giphy account, get the API key and setup your Bubble app to provide your users the ability to see gifs. Just another example of the power Bubble brings to you.
